1771 Tokaj-hegyalja wine-region – in the prosperous village, Tállya Franz A. Hillebrandt, one of the greatest Austrian architect, charged by Maria Theresa of Austria, is redesigning a building. The house – having an oaken double-gate with two lion-heads – belongs to the noble Szirmay-family.
2006 Tokaj-hegyalja wine-region – in the marvellous village, Tállya – being part of the World-Heritage – a house stands, its oaken double-gate is open – having on two lion-head knockers symbolizing the olden heraldic figure of the noble family. Today, in the 400 year old one-time Szirmay-mansion – recalling historical times, transmitting bourgeois-culture, and style à la Hegyalja – the Lion Wine-Restaurant, Wine-Cellar and Hotel welcomes its guests through the year.
In the wine-restaurant and underneath, there are four delight rooms for lunch including the Szirmay-room with an iron-stove from 1865, a parlour spreaded with Hungarian (Hollóházi) china and damask, the Saloon operating as a cigar-room as well, and the wine-cellar heated by fire-place.
Our profile is founded on wine, on the treasure of Tokaj-hegyalja essentially. Beside conventional gastronomic services, we offer winelist, wine-tasting, wine-dinners, and wine-tours simply or as a part of formal or civil events.
In the protection of the Szirmay-wine-cellar, not only the own wines of the House founded home, but – uniquely in the region – the Wine of Clerks held by the Minorita Order, produced in Arad-hegyalja, and museum wines from Tolcsva did as well.
Our guests can relax and rest in comfortable, pleasant suits equipped with infrasauna of the three-star Lion-Hotel.
